Muscle Shoals firefighters, while on vacation, saved a couple caught in a riptide at Panama City Beach.

A group of Muscle Shoals firefighters leaped into action during their vacation, rescuing a couple caught in a rip current at Panama City Beach.
Fire Chief John Hyde and two fellow firefighters were enjoying the beach when they heard cries for help. Without hesitation, they grabbed a boogie board and swam toward Kristen and Michael Brannon, who were struggling in the water.
"We are trained to act and to do what we're supposed to do," Hyde said. He explained how they used the boogie board to help the couple back to shore safely.
Michael Brannon expressed his gratitude, saying, "I think that鈥檚 what saved us honestly." He added that without the firefighters' help, they might not have escaped the rip current.
After the rescue, Kristen Brannon posted on Facebook to thank the firefighters, learning later they were from Muscle Shoals. Hyde humbly described it as being "at the right place at the right time."
